survive/thrive.  july 2025 group show

Welcome to Survive/Thrive, a group show that focuses on the world we inhabit, its longevity and our survival.

Theme

Each year mother nature faces us with increasing challenges, in response to our ineptitude and greed. We reached a point where we need to collectively decide whether the future will be about survival or the thriving of all species.

I challenge you to create artworks that question two possible futures we are facing:

  • The Thrive Option: in this case you can imagine and tell the story of a world we restored to its glory – a world where everyone and everything thrives; and

  • The Survival Option: in this case you can imagine and tell the story of a dystopic world where survival is the centerpiece of our society.

Both options are likely and possible, as is your choice with this challenge.

Who can participate

Any artist (or team of artists) wishing to take on this challenge can submit up to 2 artworks (as per below requirements). ALL submissions must be NEW, ORIGINAL artworks that respond to and take into account all requirements of this brief.  Artworks out of the scope of the brief or not in response to the brief will not be considered.

Any art that we determine to be misogynistic, racist, offensive or similarly inclined will not be considered.

Requirements

  • Each artwork MUST depict one of the options above (thrive or survival).

    • If you submit a Thrive Option artwork, you are allowed to use any color EXCEPT black, red, grey and white.

    • If you submit a Survival Option artwork, you are allowed to use ONLY the black, red, grey, and white colors.

    • If you submit 2 pieces, you can submit 1 per type (thrive and survival).

  • We accept original paintings, illustrations, sculptures, assemblages, art dolls, ceramics, wearable art, interactive or digital art.

    • Due to space constraints, we will not accept Not For Sale submissions.

  • Each artwork must not exceed a total of 18" x 18" x 18” real estate allowance.

  • You can use any medium, style, or technique.

  • If you submit a 2D work, note that we do not accept sawtooth or cleats – D-rings placed 2 to 3” from the top are required

  • If your pieces are mounted on a soft/fiber surface to hang on the wall, ensure it has hoops or built-in means to easily hang the artwork – no magnets or pins.

  • If you submit a digital/interactive artwork, it must be ready to display.
